About Us
What is HSU SWE, exactly?
We are represent both a collegiate section in Region A of the Society of Women Engineers and a registered student organization (club) at Humboldt State University. Our mission is to support and encourage passion in environmental engineering through leadership, inclusion, and kindness.
How old is the section?
HSU SWE was chartered in December, 1997, which makes our section 23 years old as of Fall 2020!
How many members does HSU SWE have?
Our section has 10 registered members and our mailing list has 55+ recipients, but usually we get around 5-10 attendees per meeting. (updated Fall 2020)
Where and when does the section meet?
We usually meet in one of the rooms in Science D, but we have been meeting over Zoom since school went virtual. Schedule updates and details are available on the home page of this website or on the ERE Events Google Calendar (can be added to your calendar by clicking the plus sign next to Other Calendars)

Meet Sequoia!
Every section in Region A has a SWE Star mascot, gifted to them by a section leader several years ago. Humboldt State’s SWE Star is named Sequoia. Her name was inspired by the trees that make Humboldt County's forests such a popular tourist destination. As the section mascot, Sequoia travels to all SWE events to represent our section. She truly is a little shining star. |
